Nils Frederiksen about himself:
I've been a woodturner for 20 years, and started making pipes in the winter 90-91 in a happy-go-lucky, experimental way. In the summer of 92 I met Flemming Petersen - a student of Sixten Ivarsson and the next couple af years I learned from Flemming how to make unique pipes in the Scandinavian tradition.
I've always used the woodlathe, and I still do so, making pipes. I usually make bent pipes this gives me greater oppurtunity to experience with the form and shape, which is the most fashinating in the pipemaking process.
I use only the best quality Mediterranean briar and all stems are hand-cut. I like to add some sort of decoration to my pipes so often use I often use ebony, buffalo horn, bamboo, and other exotic materials for that
