The model is being drawn on the selected briar block.   The model is being roughly sawn.   The head and the tobacco hole are being made free-handed with the turning tool.   The pipe is being grinded down to its final shape.   The mouthpiece is adjusted to the pipe bowl.   A ring of sterling silver, the mouthpiece and the pipestem are being grinded in.   Honing of the pipe.   Dyeing of the pipe.   Finally the pipe is hand polished.

Pipe smoking has been around for centuries The pipe is being designed in DanPipes' own workshop from the pipemakers valuation of each single briar block. The pipemaker himself hand turns the model from start to finish, making no two pipes identical. The pipemakers' many years of experience of smoking and designing pipes together with the specific demands on the shape of the tobacco hole and the diameter of the mouthpiece make our handmade pipes unique.
