The durability, beauty and cool sweet smoking of the Dunhill pipe with
its White Spot Trade Mark, are universally acclaimed.
Made from the finest quality briar (Erica Arborea), which is obtainable
only from countries bordering on the Mediterranean, the "Dunhill"
represents more than ninety separate processes spread over a period
of several months. This ensures that it will smoke perfecty from the
start and with proper care, will never lose its original sweetness.
The mouthpiece is cut from block vulcanite which, although tough, is
easy on the teeth and does not flavour the smoke. Hand-polishing enhanves
the beauty of the natural grain, giving the pipe-bowl a lustre that
only improves with age and usage.
Although scarcity of fine briar has necessitated the pricing of Dunhill
Pipes according to the amount of root employed in their manufacture,
it is important to remember that irrespective of size and price, they
are of one quality only - the finest.

The root of all Georg Jensen pipes lies in the rough mountainous areas of the Mediterrean and we mean this in the literal sense, i.e. the root of the briar shrub is the natural raw material for our pipes.
They are similar in shape and size to celery roots, harvested in the same way, sorted out and sawn into "ébauchons" then they are boiled to extract the tannic acid so that thay will smoke sweetly for years to come.
After this procedure the moisture level decreases and the rough cut ébauchons are left to dry out in Denmark.
We check them with a moisture meter over the long slow drying period until they have reached the required moisture level.
Only a small portion of the harvest is selected (15%). We only select "Extra" and "Plateu" quality for the Georg Jensen pipe, which is the highest quality available.

Savinelli, a name that is immediately associated with a product representing four generations of a family commited to the pursuit og excellence. The company enters the new century with a strong image, wher einnovation and tradition, creativeness and vitality reign supreme.
Certainly the founder Achille Savinelli, who started with a shop in 1876 at Orefici Street in Milan, could never have imagined the changes that would take place around his small shop, a meeting place for the pioneer pipe smokers of 125 years ago: from the unity of Italy to a global market, from the horse & carriage to the space shuttle, from the post offices to the internet. The shop is still in operation just across from the Cathedral in Milan today.
Carlo, who began the production of pipes with the Savinelli name, succeded his father in the company. Eventually his son, Achille Junior opened a factory at Molina di Barasso and was succesful in marketing Savinelli pipes globally and in making Italian pipes the new standard in premium quality
Giancarlo, great grandson of the founder, currently heads the company into a third century preserving the dedication to quality his forefathers worked so hard to build. The company is extremely proud to of being of being able to continue the same hand made process that have made Savinelli pipes world famous.
The savinelli motto is: "Behind every great product, there is always a history"... and we have 125 years of tradition behind every product we offer to pipe smokers.

 Nils Frederiksen
A word from Nils:
I've been a woodturner for 20 years, and started making pipes in the winter 90-91 in a happy-go-lucky, experimental way.
In the summer of 92 I met Flemming Petersen - a student of Sixten Ivarsson and the next couple af years I learned from Flemming how to make unique pipes in the Scandinavian tradition.
I've always used the woodlathe, and I still do so, making pipes.
I usually produce bended pipes, because it gives me greater oppurtunity to experience with the form and shape, which is the most fashinating in the pipemaking process.
In addition to the quality Medditerrenian Briar mounted with either selfmade black or Cumberland mouthpieces, I often use ebony, buffalo horn, bamboo and other exotic materials in my pipes.
